personal finance

I am most interested in reading about the actual numbers in personal finance blogs, and how the people got there. I enjoy reading about people successes and I am sure that I would find their failures equally as entertaining. I like seeing how people are accumulating their wealth. Unfortunately, many of the blogs that I have found only provide this information sporartically and spend the rest of their time covering other issues.

It is good that there is a place to go and find out generic information about mutual funds, or real estate investing, or whatever it is that the blogs are covering, but I am more interested in application rather than theory. I want to see the practices put to work. When the blogs that I read cover this generic information it is generally 'borrowed' from another source. This is understandable as many bloggers are probably not professional (fill in the blank here) and therefore are probably better suited to leading us to the source. Usually I find the source myself on bankrate.com, money.cnn.com, or whatnot, before is is presented on their blogs. I would like to see something dedicated to the personal finances of real people, how they got where they are, what they are doing now, and where they are going.

It is my intention to try and cover my finances in this way. I may even try to cover my friends finances too but the idea of getting them to detail their personal history to me may be difficult. I have been trying to build my wealth for many years now. I am in my late thirties, and believe that I have been at this for longer than most who blog. Because of that, I may have more experience (and failures) and I hope to pass this on to my blog.

My financial dealings have included working for medium sized companies, working for very small companies, starting companies, trying real estate, playing the lottery and anything else that I could get my hands in. To date, I have been fairly successful. I am not about to retire only because I cannot afford to. I hope to get there someday though.

Cheers,

Thejester
